SIMPLER RECYCLING:
Are you ready for the upcoming changes to waste and recycling laws in England?
From 31st March 2025 (31st March 2027 for organisations with fewer than 10 full time employees), new regulations mean schools and all places of education, like businesses, will need to stay compliant with clear and organised waste management solutions.
What does it mean for you?
Workplaces are now responsible for separating dry recyclable materials, food waste and black bin waste (residual waste) in accordance with arrangements made with their waste collector. Non-compliance can lead to fines. Find out more about workplace recycling in England here.

• DRY RECYCLABLE waste includes:
GLASS, such as drinks bottles and rinsed empty food jars
METAL, such as drinks cans and food tins
PLASTIC, such as rinsed empty food containers
• PAPER & CARDBOARD waste should be kept separate from other dry recyclables, unless your waste collector collects them together.
This includes non-confidential printed paper, envelopes, old newspapers, delivery boxes and packaging.
• FOOD waste is food leftovers and any waste generated by preparing food.
• BLACK BIN waste or residual waste includes all non-recyclable waste or highly contaminated materials like food packaging that cannot be washed.
Plastic films and flexibles will be added to the recyclable stream from 2027.
